How we ranked these AI agents
I ranked every tool on the things that actually decide whether a moving company books more jobs, not on feature count:
- Lead capture. Does it answer after hours and during peak season, and collect the details an estimator needs (dates, addresses, home size, stairs, heavy items)?
- Record keeping. Does every call come with a summary and transcript you can coach from and use to settle disputes?
- Fit with how movers work. Shared team inbox, texting, dispatch handoff, CRM connection.
- Cost you can predict. Especially in June, when call volume can triple.
- Setup effort. Can a busy owner get it live in an afternoon?
How I evaluated them: I used Quo firsthand while running Headband Movers. Everything else on this list is evaluated from each vendor's public product pages, pricing, and documentation, checked September 30, 2026. These are documented capabilities, not independent performance tests. Where a result or statistic comes from the vendor itself, I say so. The original editorial ranking is unchanged; prices alone do not determine rank.
1Quo (Sona AI agent)
Best overall for small and mid-size moving companies
- Type
- Team phone system with a built-in AI agent
- Price
- Starter / Business / Scale: $15 / $23 / $35 per user per month billed annually ($19 / $33 / $47 billed monthly), before taxes and fees. Every paid workspace includes 1,000 monthly Sona credits (10 calls), not 10 per seat. Monthly AI add-ons: $25 / 40 calls, $49 / 100, $99 / 250, $199 / 600.
- Usage
- 100 credits per call; calls under 15 seconds do not count. Credits refresh monthly even with annual phone billing and do not roll over. Overages are disabled by default: exhausted credits send calls to the configured fallback. If enabled, extra calls cost $1.00 / $0.75 / $0.65 / $0.55 / $0.45 from free to highest tier.
- Quotes moves?
- No tariff-based estimate engine documented. Can answer supplied pricing questions and collect details for your estimator.
- CRM
- Native directory includes Jobber, HubSpot, Salesforce and Pipedrive; plan requirements apply. Zapier, Make or API workflows depend on the target CRM's available actions, API and permissions, not guaranteed compatibility.
Quo, formerly OpenPhone, combines a team phone system and Sona in one app. Your office, dispatcher, and you on your cell can share one number and see one thread per customer (Starter supports sharing with up to 10 paid users). Configure Sona with your business knowledge and call flow to answer inbound calls 24/7, subject to credits and your overage setting. Starter includes summaries and transcripts for Sona-handled calls; Business and Scale add them for recorded team calls. Sona's automated SMS lead capture is free during beta on all plans, not a promise of permanent free usage.
From my own moving company: When I ran Headband Movers on OpenPhone, the AI picked up after-hours calls that used to die in voicemail, and customer texts got answered fast instead of sitting until morning.
The summaries and transcripts were the hidden win. I could see whether my sales team asked about stairs, long carries, and heavy items on every call, so our estimates got more thorough. When a customer claimed we'd promised something we hadn't, we had the transcript. Read the full case file.
Why it's #1
- Phone, texting, AI agent, summaries, and transcripts in one app, with plan-specific coverage
- Phone service is independent of your moving CRM
- Limited Sona allowance included on every paid plan
- Keep your existing number with free porting
Where it falls short
- No native SmartMoving or Supermove integration listed in the checked directory
- No documented tariff-based moving estimates
- Per-user pricing grows with seasonal hires
- Provides U.S. and Canada numbers; international calling and messaging cost extra
Verdict: The best starting point for most movers running 1 to 15 trucks, especially if you're not locked into a moving CRM's built-in AI.

Official sources checked September 30, 2026: Quo plans and feature limits, Sona credits and overages, Sona capabilities and SMS beta, and integration directory. Additional numbers are $5/month; U.S. texting registration is $19.50 once plus $1.50–$3/month, and automated SMS through API, Zapier or Make is $0.01/segment. Calling and messaging allowances are subject to fair use.
2SmartMoving Smart Scout
Best if you already run SmartMoving
- Type
- AI voice agent built into SmartMoving's moving CRM
- Price
- Requires a SmartMoving subscription plus Smart Scout's flat monthly fee and usage charges. The terms include 250 minutes/month; additional minutes are billed monthly. The base fee and extra-minute rate are not publicly listed; request a quote with both.
- Quotes moves?
- Builds estimates from your SmartMoving pricing settings for your sales team to review before sending
- CRM
- Built into SmartMoving
Smart Scout answers inbound calls around the clock, recognizes new versus existing customers, creates or updates leads inside SmartMoving, and can build an estimate from your own pricing. Your sales team reviews that estimate before sending it. That documented estimate workflow differentiates it from the intake-only tools compared here; it is not a guarantee about every other AI product.
Strengths
- Generates estimates from your tariff
- Leads land directly in your CRM
- Built specifically for moving
Watch out for
- Requires SmartMoving
- Base and overage rates require a quote
- Estimate quality depends on how clean your pricing setup is
Verdict: If you're already on SmartMoving and happy, test this before adding anything else. Evaluate whether you still need a separate team phone and texting system.

3Supermove AI Voice Agents
Best for speed-to-lead at larger operations
- Type
- AI voice agents in Supermove's AI Call Center; Sales Copilot and auto dialer are related products
- Price
- Quote-based; no public AI Voice Agent list price or usage allowance found. Request the platform cost, AI package, minutes, overages and billing commitment together.
- Quotes moves?
- Qualifies leads and books survey/estimate appointments; move-price calculation by the voice agent is not documented
- CRM
- Designed around Supermove's platform
Supermove goes further than answering. It advertises inbound handling, outbound lead callbacks and re-engagement, plus booking virtual or in-person survey appointments. Its Atlas Van Lines agent case study reports 52% appointment conversion on AI-handled calls. That is one customer's vendor-reported outcome, not an independently verified result or an expected rate for your business.
Strengths
- Inbound and outbound AI
- Built around speed-to-lead
- Sales Copilot offers coaching; confirm bundle entitlement
Watch out for
- Platform and package requirements need a sales quote
- Outbound AI calls carry TCPA consent requirements
- Results cited are vendor-reported
Verdict: Strong for multi-crew operations already on Supermove that live and die by lead response time.

4RingCentral AI Receptionist
Best if you're already on RingCentral
- Type
- Standalone AI receptionist or add-on to RingEX
- Price
- Starts at $49/month standalone, or $39/month for AIR in addition to RingEX (the listed Core bundle adds $30/month). Both include 100 minutes; additional usage is $0.50/minute, rounded up in 30-second increments. Extra minute bundles are available; confirm any additional charges.
- Quotes moves?
- No moving-price estimate workflow documented
- CRM
- AIR lists Salesforce, HubSpot and Zoho. Separately, SmartMoving's RingCentral phone integration provides click-to-call on Growth; call recording needs a qualifying RingCentral plan and setup. That does not establish a native AIR-to-SmartMoving connector.
If you already use RingCentral with SmartMoving, AIR can add automated answering without switching phone providers. It is also available standalone through call forwarding or SIP integration with other business phone systems. AIR advertises appointment scheduling, lead capture, SMS follow-ups, transcripts and analytics.
Strengths
- No switching if you're already a customer
- Enterprise-grade call routing
- Documented SmartMoving connection
Watch out for
- Per-minute pricing can spike in peak season
- AIR and RingEX entitlements are different
- Model the total subscription and usage cost for your team
Verdict: Makes sense if you're already invested in RingCentral. Not the one I'd start a small mover on.

5Smith.ai
Best AI receptionist with live human backup
- Type
- AI-first receptionist with live human escalation; human-first service is a separate offering
- Price
- Month-to-month AI plans: Free includes 25 calls/month, then $3/extra call. Entry Pro is $150/month including 75 calls ($2 per included call), then $2.50/extra call. Entry Enterprise is $500/month including 300 calls (about $1.67 per included call), then $2.17/extra call. Higher-volume and separate six-month discounted options are offered; confirm the selected package and escalation terms.
- Quotes moves?
- No moving-price estimate workflow documented
- CRM
- Named integrations and Zapier workflows; custom integrations on Enterprise. No native moving-CRM connector verified.
Smith.ai's selling point is the human safety net. The AI handles routine intake, and real people can take over when a call gets complicated, like a customer with a piano, a storage question, and a tight closing date all at once.
Strengths
- Humans available for tricky calls
- Works on top of your current phone number
Watch out for
- Per-call overages add up in summer
- Configure and test your moving intake playbook
- SMS notifications are not proof of a shared team texting inbox
Verdict: Good if you want an advertised human escalation path for complex calls. Confirm its availability and terms for your selected package.

Official sources checked September 30, 2026: AI Receptionist monthly packages, included calls, extra-call rates and human-backup FAQ, and AI capabilities. The displayed per-call package rate is not an additional charge on every included call; use the separate extra-call rate for overages.
6Goodcall
Best standalone AI add-on to your current phone
- Type
- Standalone AI receptionist
- Price
- Starter / Growth / Scale: $79 / $129 / $249 per agent per month billed monthly; the annual tab displays $66 / $108 / $208 per agent per month billed annually. Includes 100 / 250 / 500 unique customers monthly, then $0.50 per additional unique customer. Minutes and AI tokens are unlimited, not unique customers.
- Quotes moves?
- No moving-price estimate workflow documented
- CRM
- Zapier workflows for supported apps. Markets a SmartMoving integration; technical depth not independently verified.
Goodcall provides an AI number that your existing provider can conditionally forward unanswered or busy calls to. Confirm your provider supports that setup. A unique customer means a distinct phone number that interacts with the agent during the month; repeat calls from that same number count once.
Strengths
- Keep your existing number with supported call forwarding
- No per-minute or token charge; repeat callers count once per month
Watch out for
- Unique-customer overages add to the per-agent subscription
- SMS message delivery is not a documented shared texting inbox
- SmartMoving integration depth unverified
- Call/customer detail retention is 7 days on Starter, 30 on Growth, unlimited on Scale
Verdict: A solid patch for missed calls. It doesn't replace a real team phone system.

Official sources checked September 30, 2026: billing tabs, unique-customer limits, retention and forwarding FAQ, vendor's SmartMoving integration claim, and message delivery. 7My AI Front Desk
Best low-cost DIY option
- Type
- Standalone AI receptionist
- Price
- Business-in-a-Box: $99/month billed monthly or $79/month billed annually upfront. Includes 200 voice minutes, 100 chatbot conversations, 400 SMS and 1,000 overage credits monthly. Extra voice uses 25 credits/minute ($0.25/minute); SMS uses 4 credits/message and chat 5 credits/conversation. Auto-reload purchases 1,000 credits for $10. Partner / Enterprise is custom.
- Quotes moves?
- No tariff-based moving estimate workflow documented
- CRM
- Includes its own CRM and Zapier; named integrations and custom/API access depend on the plan. No native moving-CRM connector verified.
An owner-operator option for after-hours answering and configurable business knowledge. The current plan includes voice, web chat, two-way SMS, CRM and workflow automation, not just a phone bot. Set up your moving intake questions and test the handoff yourself.
Strengths
- Voice, chat, SMS and CRM in the entry package
- 24/7 AI answering with usage limits
Watch out for
- No prebuilt moving-specific estimate agent verified
- You do the setup and tuning
- Entry plan has 2 editor seats, 3 notification recipients and the last 200 logs
- Overage credits are shared across services and can auto-reload
Verdict: Fine for a one-truck operation on a tight budget. You'll likely outgrow it.

How to choose the right AI agent for your moving company
Start with one question: what CRM are you on, and are you staying on it?
- On SmartMoving or Supermove and happy? Test their built-in AI first. It lives where your leads already live.
- On anything else, or might switch CRMs? Quo keeps your phone service independent of your CRM. Recheck automation compatibility if you change CRMs.
- Already paying for RingCentral? Add its AI receptionist before switching anything.
- Just want to stop missing calls this week and change nothing else? A standalone receptionist like Goodcall or Smith.ai is the fastest patch.
Price it for June, not January. Per-minute and per-call AI pricing looks cheap in the slow season. Model your busiest month before you commit.
A note on the law. This is general information, not legal advice; consult an attorney before launch. An inbound AI receptionist still has recording, transcription and privacy obligations. A recording notice is not a universal substitute for consent: California requires all-party consent for confidential recordings, while Washington has a specific announcement procedure that includes recording the announcement when recording the call. Check the laws applicable to all participants, including interstate calls. As a conservative setup, obtain and document affirmative permission before recording; if permission is refused or your system cannot implement the required process, offer a non-recorded, non-transcribed human alternative.
The FCC treats AI-generated voices as artificial voices under the TCPA. Covered outbound AI calls, including callbacks to inquiries, generally require prior express consent absent an emergency purpose or applicable exemption. Advertising or telemarketing calls to wireless numbers or residential lines generally require prior express written consent, subject to applicable exceptions; the purpose and destination matter. A purchased lead, a vendor's compliance label or a quote request alone is not proof of AI-marketing consent. Verify the actual signed authorization covers your business, artificial-voice marketing and the number to be called, retain evidence and honor revocations and applicable identification, opt-out and do-not-call rules. Written consent must disclose that it is not a condition of purchase. The FCC's newer one-to-one and logically/topically related consent restrictions were vacated and the prior definition restored in July 2025, but existing consent and applicable state requirements remain. Recording consent and marketing-call consent are separate.
Primary legal sources checked September 30, 2026: FCC 24-17; FCC DA 25-621; California Penal Code § 632; and Washington RCW 9.73.030. These examples are not a nationwide compliance checklist. Laws and interpretations can change.

Frequently asked questions
What is the best AI agent for moving companies in 2026?
For most small and mid-size movers, Quo is my editorial pick. Starter costs $15 per user per month billed annually or $19 billed monthly, with team calling and texting and a workspace allowance of 10 Sona calls per month. Starter summaries and transcripts cover Sona-handled calls; Business and Scale cover recorded team calls too. Sona can answer 24/7 while credits or enabled overages remain. If you already run SmartMoving, test Smart Scout first for estimates from your pricing settings.
Can an AI agent quote a move?
SmartMoving's Smart Scout can generate estimates from your pricing settings for your sales team to review before sending. Supermove's Voice Agents document booking survey/estimate appointments, not calculating a move price. Quo's Sona can answer supplied pricing questions and collect details, but no tariff-based moving estimate engine is documented. Treat any AI-generated price as an estimate a human confirms.
How much do AI receptionists cost for movers?
There is no single comparable price: distinguish the phone subscription from AI add-ons, annual from monthly billing, and calls from minutes or unique customers. Quo requires a paid phone plan and includes 1,000 workspace credits (10 Sona calls) per month. Monthly Sona add-ons are $25 for 40 calls, $49 for 100, $99 for 250, or $199 for 600. Overages are off by default; exhausted credits route calls to the fallback path. If enabled, extra calls cost $1.00, $0.75, $0.65, $0.55, or $0.45 on the free through highest tier. See the comparison and dated official source notes for the other vendors.
Are AI agents for moving companies legal?
AI answering a customer-initiated inbound call is different from initiating an outbound AI call, but recording, transcription and privacy rules still apply. A recording notice is not a universal substitute for consent; check the laws applicable to all participants, including interstate calls. The FCC treats AI-generated voices as artificial voices under the TCPA. Covered outbound calls generally require prior express consent, and advertising or telemarketing calls to wireless numbers or residential lines generally require prior express written consent, subject to applicable exceptions. Buying a lead or receiving a quote request does not by itself establish that consent. Verify the actual authorization, keep evidence and honor revocations and applicable do-not-call and opt-out rules. This is general information, not legal advice; consult an attorney before launch.
Is Quo the same as OpenPhone?
Yes. OpenPhone rebranded to Quo on September 23, 2025. It is the same company and app, with its AI agent, Sona, now at the center of the product.
Rebrand date checked September 30, 2026 against Quo's official announcement.
